| About the Element System The Element System will dictate everything there is regarding elements, including: what elements are available, the nature of those elements, any potential effects, how many you're allowed to have and how to acquire more. We will try to cover everything you need to know here! First things first, elements may be incorporated into any spell, move or item so long as you possess the necessary skill level with that element. All advanced elements require a perk or other unique ability permitting the person to wield it. While you may have as many basic elements as your limit will permit, each character is restricted to no more than one advanced element. Moreover, any effect advanced elements have on the psyche of the user may be handled however you see fit. In fact, if your character has a naturally strong power of will, you could maintain that the effect is minimal, if there is an effect at all. The purpose of this mechanic is mainly to add an additional dynamic to one's roleplay, not to control or impede anyone. When an element is strong against another element, this means that when those two elements clash with one another in combat, the move or spell with the elemental advantage will receive a boost in power equal to one level. This allows a level 5 water spell to overcome a level 5 fire spell and to be considered equal to a level 6 fire spell. Learning a New ElementBelow you will find how much the WC and EXP requirements are for each element your character initially learns. - First Element - Free at Beginner Level
- Second Element - 10,000 words or 10,000 EXP
- Third Element - 20,000 words or 20,000 EXP
- Fourth Element - 30,000 words or 30,000 EXP (Requires Perk)

Fire | Fire is one of the five basic elements and is commonly associated with the qualities of energy, assertiveness, and passion. Fire is typically about explosive, scorching attacks that can (at high enough levels) melt or punch through defenses and burn foes to ashes. While it is relatively weak as a defensive element, it is highly effective for offensive purposes. Once produced, the fire can be shaped or otherwise manipulated, but exerting such control requires careful skill. If the flames are channeled into weapons, such as a sword, that allows the user greater finesse with how the fire is spread. The fire element can take the form of ash clouds that linger in the air, burning and blinding those caught in it, or be erected as a shield, burning away anything that tries to cross it. Less commonly, the Fire element encompasses using flames from other sources, such as exploding tags, with users focusing the explosions against opponents. The fire element is naturally strong against wind element and weak against the water element. Fire's strength over wind makes it an effective way to, when used collaboratively, make flames more powerful as well. Strong Against | Wind Weak Against | Water Wind | The Wind element is the rarest of the basic five elements, but those who can use it are said to be capable of slicing through anything due to its ability to form extremely sharp and nearly unstoppable blades composed purely of wind. Alternatively, it can be used to dramatically increase the sharpness and range of one's weaponry, making it a common element for swordsmen. The wind element can also be exhaled from the user's mouth, such as to blow away everything in the area, or generated with the user's hands, allowing precision strikes. Although the wind element has naturally good range and power, it can be further enhanced by compressing it or layering different wind streams together. The Wind element is naturally strong against Lightning and weak against Fire. Wind's weakness to fire makes it an effective way to, when used collaboratively, make flames more powerful. Strong Against | Lightning Weak Against | Fire Water | The Water element is one of the five basic elements and constitutes water in any of its forms including, but not limited to: mist or ice. Water-based moves and spells are most easily performed using existing water sources, such as lakes or rivers; although more advanced Water element users are capable of drawing in and combining the moisture in the air for similar results. Users can also create water within their bodies using anima or mana, which they then expel from their mouth. The Water element is typically used offensively, doing battering damage because of the sheer volume of water or slicing damage because of the water's high pressure. The Water element can be used to trap targets, such as imprisoning them with dense water or ensnaring them with sticky water. Defensively, ice is typically employed by freezing existing water. This can include producing walls of water and freezing it solid. The Water element is especially common among Miestans. Advanced users may even turn their bodies into water, such as to alter their body in order to avoid damage or increase flexibility. The Water element is naturally strong against the Fire element and weak against the Earth element. If the Water element is with the Lightning element, the water can increase the range of the lightning, or the lightning can give the water a paralyzing quality. Strong Against | Fire Weak Against | Earth Earth | The Earth element encompasses any earthen material, from dirt and stone to stand or clay. Not only that, but the aforementioned can all be transformed between the various forms of earth. For most moves and spells employing the Earth element, users place their hands on the ground and use their anima or mana to alter its form. Less commonly, users create earth within their bodies, which they may then eject from their mouth. This can be in the form of sticky mud, blinding sand or even to launch small rocks. Simpler applications of the element involve changing the terrain around the user. Offensively, the Earth element can be clumped together for use as a projectile or broken up to create hazards for enemies. Targets can be trapped by creating a rock dome around them or a muddy pit that they sink into. Defensively, earth can be raised around the user as a fortification against attack. Alternatively, Earth element users can burrow underground in order to escape harm and, indeed, combat. Earth Release is most common among the people of Madera, who use it for anything from combat to construction. Earth is naturally strong against Water and weak against Lightning. Strong Against | Water Weak Against | Lightning Lightning | In order to perform most techniques of the Lightning elements, users must convert their anima or mana into electricity. One of the simpler ways to use this electricity is to channel it into weapons, increasing the weapon's cutting power by making it vibrate or causing a paralysis effect to those the weapons come into contact with. Due to the high cost of energy required to produce large quantities of electricity, some users employ the element of Fire to alter the weather and produce thunderstorms, the powerful abundance of lightning from which may then be controlled. The Lightning element is most common among the people of Jazira who have incorporated its usage into their everyday life. The island nation even went as far as to establish an organization to maintain their power grid, the Grand Electricians; whom must possess not only intricate skill with electricity but also have a vast reserve of anima and/or mana. The Lightning element is naturally strong against Earth and weak against Wind. If Lightning is used with Water, the water can increase the range of the lightning, or the lightning can give the water a paralyzing quality. Strong Against | Earth Weak Against | Wind
- Advanced Elements:
Light | Light is generally regarded as the "holy" and "righteous" element and is most common in the Kingdom of Serenum. It is the strength of the blinding sun channeled into powerful, searing blasts and punishing rays. The force of Light can be used for a wide variety of uses, including simple illumination of areas, the temporary (or even permanent) blinding of opponents or it can be concentrated into energy-based attacks capable of moving at abnormally high speeds. It is important to note, however, that the element of Light slows down the more it is concentrated, meaning that it will not move anywhere close to the speed of light when used to physically attack opponents but will if used to merely blind them. This element appeals primarily to fighters and mages with a strong sense of right and wrong as well as unflinching courage and determination. Light, like any advanced element, has a price however. The more it is used by a person, the more that person will find themselves shaped and molded by the energy. Their entire personality will gradually shift to that of a "hero of justice" if the person isn't consumed by a god complex instead; the way this element affects the user depends entirely on their original personality. The Light element has an advantage over the element of Darkness but is weak to the element of Nature. Strong Against | Darkness Weak Against | Nature Darkness | The element of Darkness can be the most dangerous of the elements and is most common among the people of Lunari. Being the reverse of Light, it involves the creation and manipulation of chaos and deception, fueled by the darker base emotions of humanity. It allows one to utilize shadows as physical weapons, like whips, or can be used to travel from one point to another through shadows. Those who utilize the element of Darkness are typically people who have made peace with their inner darkness and possess either boundless self control or a complete lack thereof. Just as the element of Light slowly affects the user, so too does the element of Darkness. Over time, usage of this element will draw the user deeper and deeper into that darkness inside them. They may become more and more irate, violent and even sadistic. The end result of such a transition is typically a blood-thirsty psychopath, battle junkie or ruthless warmonger. It is for this reason that the secrets to this element are kept under strict control by the Lunarian government and only taught to those within the Special Forces who have been determined to possess an abnormally high amount of self control to resist the effects; though that isn't to say users of Darkness don't exist outside of this group or outside of Lunari entirely. Darkness is naturally strong against Nature but weak against Light. Strong Against | Nature Weak Against | Light Sound | The element of Sound, most commonly found in the nation of Shimaguni, is essentially all about the production and manipulation of vibrations. It can be used to reduce solid objects to shattered pieces, deafen one's opponents either temporarily or even permanently, as well as many other things. Those who utilize the Sound element are typically, but not limited to, lovers of music and the aforementioned is often incorporated into sound-based moves and spells as different melodies can produce different effects. The number of applications for this element are vast and limited only by one's imagination (and perhaps understanding of how sound works). Just as any other advanced element, even the element of Sound gradually takes its toll on the personality of the one who uses it. The more they employ it, the more obsessed they will become with music and the more bothered they become by silence. In fact, one who has used the element heavily over the span of years would find themselves going mind in total silence and meticulously practicing their music with the kind of obsession one rarely sees. Not only that, but they become deeply disturbed by poorly orchestrated music or certain, bothersome sounds to the point of violence or even, at times, a mental breakdown. The element of Sound is naturally strong against Crystal but weak against Metal. Strong Against | Crystal Weak Against | Metal Crystal | The Crystal element is a rare element that is seen predominately among those of the Miestan islands. Users of the Crystal element can use spells to convert any solid matter into an extremely durable, crystallized substance. It is said that the Crystal element is the most fortuitous of all elements and can take extreme amounts of damage before yielding. The color of the crystals produced by this element depend entirely on the personality of the user, with the exception of certain moves and spells which require that it be completely clear and colorless. When used on living creatures, targets can be crystallized down to the cellular level, imprisoning them so long as the crystals are in place; however, anyone who finds themselves crystallized can be easily shattered to pieces by the user afterwards; though this requires a separate move or spell focused on shattering crystal and its crystallized contents. Users of the Crystal element, naturally, can also manipulate pre-existing crystals and crystalline materials. Crystal Release is also susceptible to a specific sound wave frequency: because crystal requires a very precise build-up of molecules, the proper sound waves can break down the build-up before the crystal can properly form or even after it has already formed, making it weak against the Sound element. Due to its hardness and potential for sharpness, it is extremely strong against the element of Metal. Like the other advanced elements, users of the Crystal element will find their personalities shifting the more they utilize it. They gradually become more and more "transparent" and "fragile", essentially leading to them being unapologetically straightforward and honest on all matters but also making them more sensitive emotionally. Strong Against | Metal Weak Against | Sound Metal | The Metal element is a rare element that is primarily seen in Anemos, where it is commonly used not only in combat but for the purposes of crafting and construction. The element can be used one of two ways: the first is by employing premade metal weapons and items to control and manipulate, while the second is by drawing enough of the material from the earth itself or other nearby sources. The latter method takes an extreme level of control and high reserves of anima and/or mana however. The element is the second most durable, behind only Crystal, making it ideal not only for offense but defense as well. Those with this element can freely move metal objects around or even reshape them entirely, both through the use of moves or spells. The Metal element is also no exception to the way advanced elements affect the personality of the wielder. In this case, the user will gradually become distrustful of others, if not outright paranoid in more extreme cases, and over time will almost certainly find themselves becoming loners who reject society and civilization. Those most afflicted may even be prone to attacking anyone they come across with nothing less than lethal intent. The elasticity of metal allows it to absorb and/or redirect vibrations, making it strong against the Sound element. Due to its inferior aptitude for sharpness and durability, it is also weak against the Crystal element. Strong Against | Sound Weak Against | Crystal Nature | The Nature element is an advanced element allowing the user to control the likes of trees, wood, plant life and any by-products thereof. They may raise forests in an instant, ensnare their foes with thick and unshakeable vines and even produce a wide variety of toxins by utilizing the plant life from which it is derived. It is a dangerous element and, like all other advanced elements, has a price to pay for those with a weak will. Over time, overuse of the Nature element will gradually cause the user to become more and more detached from beings other than plant life. They will begin to surround themselves with all manner of it and become frightening violent when ecosystems, forests or plant life in general become threatened. At their furthest transition, they no longer value animal life at all and uphold plant life as supreme and solely worthy of protection. The Nature element is strong against light, as the Light element will only strengthen a move or spell of the Nature element. This may also be done intentionally. Nature is also, however, very weak to the Darkness element due to its ability to deprive plants of access to light, which is necessary for their growth and strength.
