World History W7FLsrT

Unlike Sosaria, which was created and had a beginning, the divine realm and the divines themselves were timeless and without beginnings. The realm had existed for an eternity just as its inhabitants had. To beings who knew only eternity, time was of no consequence and thus there was no record kept of how much time passed them by. The divines spent the majority of their time conversing, experimenting to discover the extent of their powers and, on several occasions, clashed with one another. It wasn't until Lux proposed an idea that brought all of the divines together. Why not use their combined power to create a new world? One that would be abundant with beauty and life. Surely such a project would cure them of their eternal boredom. This created new problems entirely, however, as each of the divines had their own ideas of how to mold the world and what kind of creatures should inhabit it. Eventually, however, they came to a consensus and the world of Sosaria was born and, along with it, the concept of time. AD, or After the Dawn, would be the measurement of time that passed after the creation of Sosaria. BD, or Before the Dawn, referred to time before it. The realm was vibrant and diverse, with all manner of flora, fauna and landscapes. Most of the divines were content with this. All except for Umbras, however, who wished to control the whole of Sosaria. It didn't take long for the divines to grow bored once more, dissatisfied with the simple lives of the beasts who inhabited Sosaria. It wasn't until one of such beasts, a primate species, evolved into a sentient being that they realized what the world lacked. In 5 AD, Primians had been born and, rather than living simple lives, they had goals, dreams and ambitions. They were capable of creation and civilization and the divines were mesmerized for the first time in a long time.

Inspired by the evolution of Primians, each divine decided to create sentient beings of their own. All except for Pyrus, the God of Fire, that is. His hope was that the mortal races would come to worship him for reasons other than the fact that he created them. Luxelves were born of Lux. Mondelves, Magnas and Daemons born of Umbras. Holzelves, Terrans, Fortians,  born of Terra. Glacielves and Ingens born of Gelu. Parvuns, Aurums and Avians born of Ventus. Leoni born of Fulgur. Canins born of Vox. Serpens and Marens born of Aguas. It didn't take long, however, for the sentient races to begin construction of civilizations. Settlements sprouted up all across Sosaria and quickly grew into sizable towns. They were each kept separate from those created by other divines, as to avoid tension, but as civilization grew as did the prospect of migration. Wars soon broke out between the sentient beings over land, resources and differing religious beliefs. While the divines had initially decided to stay out of mortal affairs, it wasn't until Umbras introduced monsters to Sosaria to aid her creations that this changed. All of the divines began to get involved and the Ancient War began. It was not only a war between races but a war between divines. Even though the only other divine to side with Umbras was Gelu, they held their own against the others. Ventus, on the other hand, fled to a secluded island in Sosaria to avoid the commotion. After all, he had no interest in violence or discord.

Years passed and many mortal lives were lost before the divines decided to negotiate a ceasefire. Since, as far as anyone knew, divines could not die it meant the war would have raged on without end. Instead, they agreed to no longer intervene in the mortal world and allow the sentient races to work things out for themselves. Lux had one last demand, however, and that was for each divine to find their most devout follower and make them a demigod. Those chosen would be the champion of their respective deity and represent their ideals as well as lead the followers of their divine. Umbras, realizing what an opportunity this could be, decided to propose a wager. Should all but one of the champions fall, their divine would be granted complete control over Sosaria. This idea was immediately rejected by Lux but the other divines, filled with ideas of how they could make Sosaria a better place, eventually convinced him and the agreement was forged in 22 AD. It would come to be known as "The Champion Agreement". Ironically, the first major nation was also formed in that same year. The majority of the human tribes found on the central continent came together to form what would be known as the Serenian Kingdom. The remaining tribes, rather than submit to a kingdom devoted to Lux, established the Ignian Confederacy in honor of Pyrus in the year 25 AD. This year also marked the beginning of the Great Human War that raged on for seven years, claiming thousands of lives and resulting in the destruction of countless settlements.

It was the year 25 AD that the divines also happened to decide that it was time demigods were introduced to the world. They laid out a series of clues and tests that would lead those considered worthy to a magical treasure of unmatched power: the Divine Orbs. There was an orb for each divine, and thus each element. The most devout of worshipers for each divine were commanded, telepathically, by their respective divines to construct templates in their honor. They were also ordered to not only stay away from the temples but also cast spells that would prevent the unworthy from entering until they had proved themselves worthy. Once each template had been completed, orbs of immense elemental and divine power were hidden away in the deepest depths of each template. Should one prove themselves loyal enough to their respective divine, said divine would guide them through the tests and trials laid out for them. Anyone who succeeds in passing them all would then be guided to their respective temple and granted the orb stored away at the end of the dungeon-like structure in the chest the original demigod, tasked with defending the temple against the unworthy. Once defeated by someone worthy, the old demigod will be reduced to dust and the orb would float towards its new owner and merge into their chest, making them the new demigod with immense elemental power as well as a semblance of divine energy; this divine energy being required to enter the divine realm, see the divines and perform divine techniques.

While the Serenian continent was being ravaged by war, two new nations arose; one in the north and one in the south. The Lunari Kingdom and Anemos Confederacy were both born in 28 AD. Although they'd manage to unite all of the tribes and settlements on their respective continents, they had a long ways to go before they would be recognized by other nations. It wasn't until 32 AD that Lunari, desperate for resources, sailed across the Sosarian Sea in a bid to invade the Serenian continent. With the appearance of an outside threat, and the dominance of Serenum, the Ignian Confederacy finally conceded and joined the kingdom in order to unite the continent. Serenum pushed back against the incursion and Lunari was forced to retreat for the time, but a war was sparked that would go on for decades to come. While the War of Fire and Ice raged on, other nations began to rise across Sosaria. Miesta, like many other nations, was the product of numerous tribes across the series of islands that came together at the behest of the most powerful tribe among them. It was established, officially, in 33 AD and would come to be an empire ruled by a dictator. Unlike Miesta, Jazira was formed by numerous religious sects that worshiped Terra, the Goddess of Nature. The empire that it would become came to be ruled, and centered around, worship of the goddess Terra and its government was determined by those who held the most affluence with those of lower castes facing relentless discrimination and mistreatment at the hands of their leaders.

What is now known as the Maderan Republic was once nothing more than a massive continent filled with tribes of bestial races who waged endless wars against one another for the sake of land and resources. After all, the continent was abundant in them. The spoils were so desired that the Miestan Empire eventually set sail to conquer the lands in hopes of seizing the riches for themselves. Thus, the War of Spoils began in the year 38 AD. It took a mere two years for Miesta to conquer a sizable chunk of the continent and they made sure to pillage it for all that it was worth. This sparked a change in the continent, however, as all of the bestial races came together to discuss how they would combat the foreign incursion. The result was the establishment of the Maderan Empire in 43 AD. With their combined forces, they drove Miesta off of the continent never to return. With the imperialist power out of the equation, Madera flourished and many great cities arose. The latest nation to come about was Shimaguni, originally consisting of numerous nation states with their own sovereignty. It took a powerful and charismatic leader from the greatest of the states, Pirmasia, to unite the states by convincing the leaders of the other states that it was only way to keep up with the foreign powers who grew as threats more and more by the day. Thus, the Shimaguni Empire was established in 55 AD.

While other nations focused on the development of their respective lands, the Serenian Kingdom grew greedy. They felt that they had the right to control the island that had come to be known as the Republic of Yew, due to its small size and close proximity to the Serenian continent. Serenum first invaded Yew in 86 AD and faced little resistance in subjugating the island. For years, the Yewian people lived under the rule of Serenum. They were taxed heavily, their government was replaced with a puppet leader who answered to the royal family of Serenum. Their laws were replaced with those of their conquerors and enforced by the Serenian military. It remained this way for many years, until the former Yewian Council came together in a secret meeting to discuss what must, or could, be done. This meeting would come to be known as the Republican Accord. They wrote out an agreement, offering generous trade deals and a mutual military pact with the Repbulic of Madera in exchange for their aid in the revolution that was to come. It wasn't until 89 AD that they received an affirmative response and 92 AD that they mobilized their forces, setting sail for the small island. Between the Yewian insurgents and Maderan armies, the foreign occupants of the island nation were either killed, imprisoned or forced to retreat to the Serenian continent. Once the war was over, Madera had an embassy and military face built on the island to expedite the process if Yew ever needed assistance in the future. Likewise, the Yewian Republic sent representatives and funds to do the same in Madera should they ever be called upon to assist them as well.

By the year 100 AD, world peace had essentially been achieved. As fragile of a peace as it may have been, there were no active wars despite the aggressive sentiments between some nations. Lunari and Shimaguni, despite revering the same divine and have similar ideals, weren't necessarily allies but had formed an economic pact. Lunari offered large quantities of steel and valorite while Shimaguni offered wood, reagents and food items. Miesta and Jazira, being smaller and weaker than the other kingdoms, formed a military pact themselves in the year 105 AD to officially become allies. Around this time, a diplomat was sent from Anemos to Serenum to negotiate an alliance themselves. Although their governments were so different in nature, their shared reverence of Lux, God of Light, gave them common ground. Serenum readily agreed to the alliance and the two began construction of embassies in the capitals of one another. With this agreement, one would come to the aid of the other if they were ever under attack. This did not mean, however, that one would aid the other in any wars that they themselves initiated.
