    Anemosian History PYBvlU8

  • YEAR 1-38

    One Nation Under Lux

It wasn't until shortly after the introduction of mass numbers of Luxelves onto the Anemosian continent that settlements were quickly erected and their power rapidly developed. One man in particular, Iliako Fos, led the Luxelves and constructed large and prosperous cities, welcoming beings of all races to join them freely. Every major settlement inevitably decided to join the Luxelves, pledging their loyalties to Lux as well as the new kingdom, established in Year 38, the Anemos Confederacy. Worship of Lux was heavily encouraged throughout the continent and any who worshipped Yami, and even Gelu at times, were ruthlessly oppressed. They were frequently targeted by thieves, muggers and religious extremists. Even so, the confederacy was beginning to grow into its first stage of development. They quickly increased advancements in magic and agriculture in hopes of expanding their population further. Although they possessed the knowledge and resources, it would be years before they saw the fruition of their labors. Iliako used his vast mana pool and unmatched magical aptitude to accelerate the growth of his cities and help his people regularly.

  • YEAR 38-72

    War of Lights and Shadows

The War of Lights and Shadows began in the Year 38 when Luxian missionaries visited Yami-worshipping settlements to the north and east in hopes of converting them. When reports arrived that the missionaries had all been executed, their hearts extracted for ritual and their lifeless bodies left piked outside of the settlements to leave a message. This had the opposite result. Anemos mobilized the entirety of their forces and waged war across the north and east. It could be described as little less than genocide, the way Anemosian troops wiped out entire populations of Mondelves and other Yami devotees. The war raged on for roughly 34 years before Anemos had completely conquered the entirety of the continent and, at least seemingly, cleansed the lands of any Umbrian influence. Newer and mightier cities were soon erected and King Iliako now grew old. He had managed to lead his nation to victory over the savages but it was time that his son, Ouran took over. One silent night in the Year 72, King Iliako passed on peacefully to the underworld. The next day, the day of mourning, was met with festivals in the late king's honor, as well as the funeral for those close to him. The day after that, however, Ouran was thrust upon the throat at age 23 and made king of the lands.

  • YEAR 72-142

    Dynasty of the Young King

King Ouran brought about great changes to the continent. He had the cities, and settlements, erect mighty schools for the education of magical arts and skills. He established the Royal Mage Order, a small organization consisting of the greatest mages in the nation. Their job is to work closely with the Anemos Intelligence Agency to predict, circumvent or other overcome any impending disaster; particularly those of a magical nature. Countless docks, shipyards and ships were constructed which led to mass deforestation. King Ouran saw this problem and immediately implemented laws which required all trees logged to have at least two saplings replanted nearby. This move, although a small increase in the cost of producing wood-based products, managed to bring about booming forests and densely wooded areas, even while some other kingdoms struggled to maintain their tree population. The replenishment of trees and other greenery was not all natural, however, as it was highly enhanced via magic used by a sect from the Royal Mage Order. This sect was known only as the Nature Mage Core. Their job was to travel the continent amplifying the growth of farms, forests, lakes, wildlife and more. Their mission, first and foremost, is the preserve the natural wonder and resources of the continent. With all of that said, Oaron was proving himself a capable and popular king.

  • YEAR 142-156

    War of Miestan Aggression

In the year 142, King Oaran passed away to heart failure and was promptly replaced by his son, Polemos. Polemos (age 21) was not as educated on the more sophisticated or intricate matters of running a state, but he was an unparalleled master when it came to matters of luck and strategy. Fortunately so, as the Miestan Empire launched a large scale invasion of Anemos on their northeastern border in the year 144. Through the use of various land bridges and their vast naval fleets, they were able to move nearly the entirety of their available forces into Anemosian territory. Anemos fought long and hard but was consistently losing ground to the invaders. Their mages were FAR more powerful but the sheer numbers overwhelmed them.  In the year 145 Vouno was lost to Miesta. Prasino fell not long after as well. It was now that King Oaron got serious and led his strongest armies to take on the Miestan occupiers. Years of bloody fighting transpired, the entire landscape changed altogether by the powerful magic being cast on all sides. Little by little, they managed to recapture Prasino before resting for several days to regroup. It then that they marched on Vouno, liberating it with relative ease. While the plan had been to stop there, King Oaran altered plans and pursued the remaining Miestan forces all the way back to their country. Rather than invade, Oaran sent a diplomat to the emperor of Miesta, who agreed to his terms. Miesta would pay GREAT amounts in reparations, their captured forces would serve in rebuilding the destruction their war caused and Miesta was henceforth banned from entering Anemosian land or waters.

  • YEAR 156-183

    Era of Reconstruction

Although all prisoners of war were meant to be returned to Miesta after only ten years, the Anemosian Confederacy refused until twenty years had passed. In that time, the prisoners had not only rebuilt all of the damage wrought by the war but had also be used in the experimentation of weapons, armor, magical items and other artifacts. They had helped boost the nation into a new era of magical technology and military might. The last prisoner of war returned home to Miesta in the year 176, the month was October. Ever since the war, both nations continued refusal to so much as acknowledge one another as a legitimate sovereign state. They had sanctioned each other to the fullest as well, meaning that no goods could be trafficked from one to the other at all. Despite this, Anemos was prospering thanks to its naval trade routes with the nations of Serenum, Maderan and even Yew; although they refuse to trade or deal with Shimaguni adamantly due to their being ruled by monsters and devout worshippers of Yami.

  • YEAR 183-256

    Colonization of the Yewian Republic

The colonization of Yew at the hands of Anemos was a slow, gradual and unpredictable series of events. Everything began with Luxian missionaries traveling there in droves. The Yewians were happy to receive these missionaries though, because they brought with them advanced medicine, potions, healing (and all other natures) of powerful magic. The more they helped, however, the more they spread the influence of the Luxian faith. By the year 200, around 42% of Yewians were devout Luxians. It was then that the Anemosian navy began to station its fleets all around the island. Heavily armed soldiers, supported by large squads of the kingdom's mightiest mages. The small island nation only lasted no more than three weeks before Anemos had completely taken control. While most of their forces returned home (to maintain stability following the assassination of King Polemis), many remained in order to keep the peace. The gathering and processing of natural resources, along with the production of magical items, became the two foremost industries in Yew. Every bit of what was produced would be shipped to Anemos, Serenum or Madera and all profits went to Anemos. A portion of the money was spent to manage the Yewians and establish a colonial foundation. Yewian children were taught a distorted version of history which praised Anemos and painted Yew as a once evil and primitive land which found itself saved by the Luxian faith. They were taught only to speak Anemosian in school, as it was the only language permitted to be spoken in public, though natives still spoke and taught Yewian in the privacy of their homes. Anyone who became irreversibly ill, elderly or otherwise handicapped was painlessly euthanized, granted a funeral then sent to the Medical Corps for the purposes of experimentation. Not all who were sent for experimentation were euthanized, however, as some experiments required live subjects.

  • YEAR 256-278

    War of Yewian Rebellion

Yew had remained a colony of Anemos for roughly 50 years before finally, after decades of gathering in secret, launching their revolution to liberate the island from their invaders. The newest king of the Anemos Confederacy was appointed by continental congress involving a representative from each city, as there was no heir available. Eventually, a national hero by the name of Dynami Petra was appointed to be the new king in the year 260. Although he was lacking in military experience, he was an unmatched expert when it came to social policy, diplomacy, economics and (albeit to a lesser extent) military strategy. He dispatched roughly half of all military forces and assets to Yew in an attempt to maintain control but encountered an unforeseen obstacle. The Serenian Kingdom had dispatched two large naval fleets crammed with elite warriors and mages. The ships attacked one another with cannon fire and magic, while the other troops took smaller boats to engage on the island. The entire landmass was rampant with blood, death and the sounds of mass destruction. More ships from both Serenum and Anemos alike poured in over the years until, finally, the war came to an end in Year 278. The Head General of Serenum met with the Head General of Anemos, agreeing that neither would colonize (or launch any military expenditure against) the Yewian Republic. This left Yew to pay Serenum a vast debt for their help and Anemos without an invaluable colony. Not only that, but they had essentially wasted countless lives and resources trying to keep it. To say the people of Anemos were displeased would be an understatement.

  • YEAR 278-352

The Reign and End of Dynami

King Dynami ruled Anemos with an iron fist after losing Yew as a colony. Any and all speech which could be construed as disparaging the king would land one in jail, and possibly executed depending on the severity. The press was now required by law to have ALL news releases reviewed and edited by the newly established Ministry of Information. The people were quickly becoming unhappy but there remained too many who believed the propaganda being peddled to them. It wasn't as if one could tell another their true thoughts or knowledge, lest they risk punishment. The Ministry of Education came next, mirroring the first ministry's focus on propaganda and obedience. The only things being taught in schools were the magical arts, combat skills and the "great history" of Anemos with a great focus on King Dynami. Throughout this period, the king was worshipped as if he were a god but the country around him continued to stagnate and crumble. Finally, the king passed away in the year 345 leaving behind no known heirs. Once again, a continental congress was called and this time a Luxelven woman from Ploutos (the capital city) by the name of Sotiria Omorfia was selected as the new head of state. Her reign officially began in the Year 352, following her coronation.

  • YEAR 352-386

    The Glorious Age

The Glorious Age is said to have begun when Sotiria, the first and only female ruler of Anemos, took over as queen of the continent. She passed extensive social and economic reform in order to ellevate the status of those living in poverty as well as to maintain the influx of wealth from outside of the kingdom via international trade. She accelerated the production of larger, faster and more efficient boats towards that end and the results were clear. Cheap and valuable goods flooded the nation like a tsunami. Even more, the Anemosian people had the purchasing power to afford such goods thanks to an abundance of jobs in the processing and refining of resources, as well as the assembly of various types of goods. Sotiria was determined not to allow her nation to become one solely of imports. By the year 374, Anemos had become an economic powerhouse and nations across Sosaria imported vast quantities of their goods. Coal and various metals to Lunari. Quality, but reasonably priced, weapons, armor and tools to Serenum. To Madera, they exported large quantities of food such as meat, fruit, vegetables and even various spices. It is said that without Anemos, Madera would surely starve. Fortunately, both nations remain on good terms. This is expected to remain the case as well, because the Anemos Confederacy produces far more food than it could ever hope to use or even store, so selling all of the excess to Madera for profit benefited both parties greatly but Anemos moreso.
