Serenian Regions

Spiralis Plains

View Image:

The Spiralis Plains are a vast area in the midst of the Serenian continent, where innumerable hills and oddly shaped cliffs may be found all throughout. The grass grows in unusual spirals along each hill, earning its name. Although the area is largely untouched by civilization, some important outposts and cities may still be found herein, as well as many shrines to the various divines. It is said that the Spiralis Plains region, in particular, is truly the melting pot of Sosaria. Not that other nations of highly diverse ethnic backgrounds do not exist, but moreover because the region was highly affluent yet very welcoming toward tourists, travelers, migrants and even refugees. Between the vast wealth of the region and the vast wealth of the nation, this region remains well cared for and treated as the crown jewel of the Serenian Kingdom. Aside from the three major cities found in this region, there are countless settlements of countless different races and creatures. There are also plentiful mining areas to be found throughout the region, gold being the most abundant resource and a chief export for Solaris City itself. Not only that but the abundance of wildlife has led to extensive advancements in the maintenance and procession of livestock.

This makes two of the region's chief exports, aside from gold, to be leather and animal by-products. However, the vast majority of edible meat harvested from both wildlife and livestock alike goes towards feeding the hundreds of thousands who call the region home. The region is also filled with countless roads, bridges and signs which make trade and logistics far easier. The infrastructure of the region is well maintained, as it is considered a reflection of the royal family. With that said, the City of Solaris is tasked with the total control and management of the region. As the leader of the nation and capital city, the acting head of the royal family is considered the absolute ruler over not only the country but the region. To the northeast, one will also find the great Mare City. It's a massive port city responsible for half of all trade with Madera and all of trade with Jazira. This has made the city extremely wealthy as well as influential. There is a deep divide in the region, however, as the City of Solaris devotes itself to Archea while the City of Mare devotes itself to Bahra; likely due to heavy Jaziran influences.

Nation | Kingdom of Serenum
Major Resources | Gold, Leather, Livestock
Climate | Sub-Tropical
Population | ~385,000
Loyalty | 100%
Cities | Solaris City - Mare City - Urbs Villam - Auream Village
Leader(s) | Serenian Royal Family (Solaris City)

Western Coast

View Image:

The Western Coast of Serenum is a combination of rocky shores and cliffs, as well as the most beautiful of beaches to be found on the continent. It's for this reason that numerous cities and tourist attractions have been built along it over the centuries. The most prominent of settlements to be found along the coast is Oceanum Cove. The Western Coast also includes a series of islands in the northwest of Serenum. While Oceanum Cove remains reclusive and fairly isolated from the rest of the kingdom, Costa Murus is a different story entirely. Constructed as a village by and for nobles, it quickly became a bastion of wealth as the combined resources of the nobles who resided there was clearly reflected in the architecture and infrastructure of the region. Being home to a major port city, Costa Murus, the region sees vast amounts of goods being moved through it for the purposes of import and export alike. The vast majority of this trade is with the Miestan Empire and, albeit very little, Winter's Keep.

The port of Costa Murus is the ancestral 'travel point' for all great mages who find themselves invited to Winter's Keep. The entire process, from identification to destination, is delicately overseen by a united force of battlemages called "The Keepers". Several can always be found at the port when the school's ship docks and many more can be seen all along the ship. Anyone in Serenum who wishes to attend the elite academy of magic must board the ship through that port as every nation has a single, designated port by which students will be dropped off or picked up. That aside, the nation exports vast amounts of seafood to the rest of the continent alongside monstrous amounts of stone to all of Sosaria. Given the importance of quality stone in the developing realm, the region has seen great prosperity in the mining and even enhancing of stone materials.

Nation | Kingdom of Serenum
Major Resources | Seafood, Stone
Climate | Sub-Tropical
Population | ~120,000
Loyalty | 100%
Cities | Costa Murus - Oceanum Cove - Aquilo Island
Leader(s) | Jarl of Costa Murus

Southern Plains

View Image:

The Southern Plains primarily consists of vast, empty areas of grass that never exceeds a few inches in length. The region is filled with innumerable mountains, lakes and forests but is also home to major Serenian cities. Due to the region being closest to Anemos, it's known to have an unusually high Luxelven population. This is where the continent's most valued and protected religious site exists, the Temple of Sun. Several elite guards from the Serenian Special Forces are selected to watch guard over it and defend it against any potential damage. The three major settlements in the Southern Plains are Caelum City, followed by Ferrariun Town and Triticum which are very small villages. Caelum manages the internal infrastructure and management of the region, making the most of its natural resources via managing Ferrariun's iron output and Triticum's food output. The former being a city of blacksmiths and the latter a city of farmers. Caelum, however, is a city of wealth and magic. Potent and diverse forms of magic can be found all throughout the floating city. Below the city of Caelum, however, are a vast series of stone spikes accumulated with Manite from the excess mana being generated above.

Triticum, despite being a small port city, brings great amounts of wealth and goods to the region just by proximity to Anemos. By shipping out food and iron, the region is able to import large quantities of Sosars and gold. The southern plains are somewhat unique to most other regions in the capital as extremely high numbers of magical beasts roam the region and call it home. The highly potent, and magical, by-products from these creatures are extremely valuable at Reagents to be used for the purposes of Alchemy, Cooking or other related skills and applications. It is also where tamers from all over Serenum travel to fight and tame the most powerful of magical beasts, hoping to make one their familiar. Initially this led to overhunting and drastic drops in population, at least until Caelum passed sweeping reform to preserve all creatures within the region so that they would not be hunted to extinction. Additionally, the introduction of a "Hunter's License" is required in order to hunt beasts of any kind in the region and may be obtained from the Serenian Adventurer's Guild.

Nation | Kingdom of Serenum
Major Resources | Wheat, Iron, Manite
Climate | Tropical
Population | ~120,000
Loyalty | 100%
Cities | Caelum City - Ferrariun Town - Triticum
Leader(s) | Jarl of Caelum City

Nato Rivers

View Image:

The Nato Rivers, which are what this region is named after, is a long and winding set of rivers that extends all throughout the Serenian Kingdom and the Nato Rivers region is where those rivers end. Numerous settlements and outposts can be found all along the rivers, including major and minor civilizations alike. Aside from the rivers, the region is filled with massive lakes, sprawling mountain ranges and densely wooded forests The rivers are also home to a variety of underwater life, teeming with amphibious and reptilian creatures that call the areas home. Not far down the river, just before the mountains and valleys, is the city of Flumen. Control over the rivers in the region fall squarely under Flumen's authority. They harvest massive quantities of freshwater in the surrounding rivers so as it contain and trade it to the rest of the region; after providing for their own people and stockpiling a certain percentage, that is.

The Nato Rivers are not only home to an abundance of gold and freshwater, however, as it is highly abundant in herbs critical to trades such as Alchemy. The vast majority of these fields of herbs can be found either within, or surrounding, the city of Amnisa. It is the export of these herbs to the rest of the continent that provides the city of Amnisa with its vast wealth, though it keeps more than enough for themselves as well. It is for the aforementioned reasons that Amnisa City has become known as the City of Alchemists; the aforementioned are known to travel from all over Serenum just to attend the School of Alchemy and/or gather as many herbs as they possible can.

Nation | Kingdom of Serenum
Major Resources | Freshwater, Gold, Herbs
Climate | Tropical
Population | ~87,500
Loyalty | 100%
Cities | Urbs Regum - Flumen City - Amnisa City
Leader(s) | Jarl of Flumen City

Eastern Coast

View Image:

The Eastern Coast has always, since the dawn of Sosaria, been dominated by ferocious creatures and monsters of the sea. It's for this reason that there are no cities or settlements to be found in the entirety of the coast aside from Malus Navis. Almost all establishments, like towns or settlements, have long since been pillaged with the residents all being brutally murdered. It's said, however, that there are valuable treasures in the dungeons. The inner lands themselves aren't much safer to live in or navigate through due, primarily, to the countless brigand settlements which clutter the region. These bandits make their living by robbing any unsuspecting victims traveling through the region, as well as harassing small towns, villages and settlements such as Urbs Silva, demanding money for their "protection". The City of Mons, however, has been taking drastic action in reducing such incidents.

The land itself is fairly diverse, including small mountain ranges, vast rainforests and densely wooded areas. The bulk of freshwater comes from the numerous lakes and streams which can be found all across the landscape. Mons City, the capital of the region, is extremely fortified and home to a large portion of the Serenian Army. In exchange for providing the army with the basic necessities, grounds upon which to train and living quarters in which to sleep, the Serenian Army assists in protecting Serenian interests in the region and wage a daily war against the mass numbers of brigands who have come to call the region home as well.

Nation | Kingdom of Serenum
Major Resources | Seafood, Manite
Climate | Tropical
Population | ~127,500
Loyalty | 100%
Cities | Malus Navis - Mons City - Urbs Silva
Leader(s) | Jarl of Mons City

Gwydyr Wood

View Image:

Gwydyr Wood is a forest situated just between the kingdom of Serenum and the city-state of Yew. It is largely composed of massive trees with invasive trunks and winding streams of freshwater. Numerous trees of various different natures offer those who seek wood a myriad of options and a bountiful supply at that. Gwydyr Wood remains largely uninhabited, despite being abundant in resources. Nearly the entire region is constantly swarming with hordes of monsters from the weakest of goblins to the most powerful monsters on the continent. Deep within the main forest, at roughly the center, is the Elemental Champion of Nature, also known as Terra. The surrounding area is thusly filled with powerful Wind Elementals who stand guard over the Wind Temple, where the elemental champion resides.

There is one city in the region, however. The city of Urbs Monstrum, also referred to as Monster Village. It's fairly average in size but is heavily guarded by both city guards and adventurers alike. It earned its name due to the region around it being filled with monsters; not only that, but out of all cities on the continent, Urbs Monstrum is home to the most beings of the monster races.

Nation | Kingdom of Serenum
Major Resources | Lumber, Iron, Manite
Climate | Sub-Tropical

Lunarian Regions

Rocky Tundra

View Image:

Aptly named, the Rocky Tundra is a vast wasteland of snow, ice, mountains and rocks. While it's an exceptional place to mine for resources, it's largely considered uninhabitable by most races. In fact, the only group of people who call this land home are the Glacielves, or Snow Elves. They're one of the few races capable of withstanding the harsh cold. In the southern region, one may find the capital city of Temnota. Although the region is mostly worthless as far as lumber or tourism but it more than compensates for that with its sheer abundance of mineable resources. Their three key exports are gold, bronze and stone; the latter primarily being traded to the rest of Lunari for the purposes of structure development and more. Due to the valuable areas to mine, the capital city of Temnota sees a constant and reliable flow of income via international trade. Most of the world, sans Anemos and Serenum, import the bulk of their gold and bronze from the region as it can be acquired cheaply and the quality is usually among the best in the world.

Although repeated efforts have been made to enhance the region and make it more workable for the purposes of agriculture, but essentially all attempts have come up short. Thus, the region is stuck depending on others in Lunari for seafood, wheat and other food goods. Located in the more mountainous areas of the rgion is Skalisty, a decently sized villager that was founded by stone miners who sought to make it big by harvesting, refining and selling the stone of the mountains; along with whatever else they can find. Uytug, on the other hand, is a small village located in the region that thrives by hunting wild game and harvesting gold from mines nearby. Due to their close proximity to the gold hot spots, Utyug has seen a high influx in immigration from those seeking to obtain the gold for themselves. Even the Lunarian government has made extensively efforts to mine it en masse.

Nation | Kingdom of Lunari
Major Resources | Gold, Bronze, Stone
Climate | Tundra
Population | ~255,000
Loyalty | 100%
Cities | Temnota - Skalisty - Utyug
Leader(s) | Lunarian Royal Family

Deadman's Land

View Image:

Deadman's Land is a vast and chaotic region found in the northeastern region of the Lunarian Kingdom. It consists of countless structures composed almost entirely of stone and ice, with very little area to travel through. It's widely considered the most dangerous region in Lunari not just because of how difficult it is to navigate but the feral beasts and monsters who frequent it as well. However inhospitable and dangerous the region may be, that isn't to say that there aren't many settlements and even a single major city known as Zamerzat. The peoples who call Deadman's Land home mostly survive off of freshwater derived from the abundance of ice as well as hunting down the many varied creatures which roam the lands. Being the sole city in the region, Zamerzat is responsible for the management and security of the region.

It is for that reason, Zamerzat is home to the Lunarian Adventurer's Guild. Those very same adventurers are the ones tasked with clearing the region of its most dangerous monsters, protecting what few settlements have been constructed across the island and to also aid in infrastructure projects (though this type of work is typically reserved for beginning adventurers). One must always travel with a map in this region, however, as it is not only home to Lunarian settlements. Large nests and dungeons, filled with dangerous and intelligent monsters, can also be found all throughout Deadman's Land. Conquering these nests and dungeons, however, is said to yield one the greatest of wealth, fame and rewards. Even the dungeons themselves are filled with treasures of unimaginable value, collected and protected by ferocious monsters.

Nation | Kingdom of Lunari
Major Resources | Lumber, Fur
Climate | Tundra
Population | ~35,000
Loyalty | 100%
Cities | Zamerzat
Leader(s) | Mer of Zamerzat

Loner's Shore

View Image:

Loner's Shore is located near the far southwest of the Lunarian continent and consists of a wide variety of environments all in a single region. Its name is derived from the fact that vast majority of the southern coastline consists of highly dangerous waters and massive series of spiked pillars and rocky shores. Found in the most hospitable portion of the coastline is Bereg City, responsible not only for all imports and exports with the nation of Miesta but is also renowned as the Lunarian entrance to Winter's Keep. Every year, scores of mages from across Lunari gather at Bereg City in order to board the ship which would take them to the island school of magic. The port of Bereg City is the ancestral 'travel point' for all great mages who find themselves invited to Winter's Keep. The entire process, from identification to destination, is delicately overseen by a united force of battlemages called "The Keepers". Several can always be found at the port when the school's ship docks and many more can be seen all along the ship. Anyone in Lunari who wishes to attend the elite academy of magic must board the ship through that port as every nation has a single, designated port by which students will be dropped off or picked up.

In the more mountainous parts of the region, one will find the territory of the city known as Kolomna. Kolomna isn't exactly one of the more thriving cities but it is renowned across the continent as a city of miners and blacksmiths. The majority of the city's wealth comes from mining the surrounding mountains. All of the region's harvesting and processing of stone takes place in this city, before most of it is either exported throughout Lunari or to the port city of Bereg for the purposes of being exported. The third major city in the region, known as Salavat, can be found in the harsh and unforgiving arctic environment to the north. They survive primarily off of freshwater converted from the arctic ice found there and seafood imported from the city of Bereg. Salavat remains the poorest city in the region with exceptionally few resources and a low population.

Nation | Kingdom of Lunari
Major Resources | Arctic Ice, Seafood
Climate | Tundra
Population | ~170,000
Loyalty | 100%
Cities | Bereg - Kolomna - Salavat
Leader(s) | Mer of Bereg

Wild Lands

View Image:

The Wild Lands are home to one major city, Pustynya, where as the rest are small settlements and military fortresses. The region was primarily given its name due to the sheer number and ferocity of wild beasts and monsters who frequent the area. One will often encounter adventurers from all over Lunari who have taken a quest to help clear the region of those who wish to destroy the settlements Lunari has made thus far there. The majority of the region, save for the south, consists entirely of ice and now with a series of large mountains separating the region from Umba's Haven; which is perhaps a good thing, as the two regions have had a heated rivalry which dates back centuries. The Wild Lands primarily consist of Dwarven races who worship Malleater whereas Umbra's Haven was established in the name of the Goddess of Night herself, Neba. Moreover, Umbra's Haven is predominately Mondelves and they tend to see themselves as superior to the Dwarn Races.

Regardless, the region has an ample supply of coal, freshwater and stone to be exported across not only the continent but even, through the port city of Skalisty anyway, other nations. What wealth they do gain from these exports, as well as the money brought in from adventurers who are coming and going, they tend to invest back into their own people and into the infrastructure of the region. Skalisty being the presiding city over the region, they wish to maintain as peaceful, secure and efficient a region as possible in order to better facilitate.
trade between themselves and others on the continent. Although, presently, most working age persons in the region labor tirelessly in the mines, there is an extensive plan in place to increase the education and abilities of future generations so that they can expand their economy into other sectors besides mining, processing and so forth.

Nation | Kingdom of Lunari
Major Resources | Freshwater, Stone, Seafood
Climate | Tundra
Population | ~90,000
Loyalty | 100%
Cities | Skalisty - Ledyanoy
Leader(s) | Mer of Skalisty

Umbra's Haven

View Image:

Umbras's Haven may be found on the eastern portion of the main island. It's abundant with trees native to the land that spread far and wide throughout the area. Separating the dense forestation and sprawling mountain range is a massive lake that spends the majority of the year frozen solid. Although it's said that the lake thaws out for one week each year, yielding the largest and most ferocious fish. Just south of the area is the wealthy city of Chernyy and to the north of the region, one will find its capital: the city of Umbra. Umbra draws in even more wealth than Chernyy, bringing in vast wealth with its supply of lumber to the region and export of Manite not only across the continent but to other nations throughout the Sosaria. Manite being one of the most valuable resources in the world, the region has dedicated enormous resources and manpower toward increasing the out of production. The city draws in miners and blacksmiths from all over who are eager to get their hands on the material.

Although roughly 40% of the region is densely wooded area, the rest consists almost entirely of plains. Both the forests and the plains each have their own distinct flora and fauna which vary based on which of the areas you're in. Umbra's Haven is known, however, for having the most peaceful and passive creatures; hence why it has come to be called Umbra's Haven, it being a haven and Umbra being the first saint of Neba. It is said that Neba herself watches over the region and shows it her favor via an abundance of manite and seafood. To the south, on the coastline, is the port city of Moroz. There are countless roads winding through the region and many lead to this city, especially from other cities in the region and even those adjacent to it, primarily for the purposes of exporting goods and setting off on a journey across the waters. It is a bustling and fairly wealthy city, and is also where the Lunarian military keeps a portion of their naval fleet; however, these fleets are often used to patrol the surrounding waters and secure their trade routes abroad from pirates and the such.

Nation | Kingdom of Lunari
Major Resources | Lumber, Manite, Seafood
Climate | Tundra
Population | ~170,000
Loyalty | 100%
Cities | Umbra - Chernyy - Moroz
Leader(s) | Mer of Umbra

Everest Peaks

View Image:

Everest Peaks are an innumerable range of icy mountains that fill the surrounding tundra and offer resistance to any and all who dare to traverse the land. Aside from the mountainous regions that it's come to be known for, there are also many valleys and caverns that can prove dangerous to less cautious travellers. In the far north of this region, one may find the military base of Snegopad which is the largest military outpost found on the entire continent. It is home to the bulk of the Lunarian military and even has a port nearby to allow for the stationing of vast numbers of navy vessels. The climate of the region is extremely harsh and unforgiving, and isn't even the worst aspect of the region. It is also filled with all manner of vicious beasts and monsters. Travelers are warned not to enter the region, however the population remains high. Although the vast majority of the people of this region live within Snegopad, a wealthy and populous city exists on the southern coast called Samara. It is the ruling city of the region and the vast majority of the remaining population resides there.

Although countless roads have been created over the years, the snow generally covered them entirely rendering them useless. It wasn't until relatively recently that Lunari started to use enchanted bricks to construct the roads throughout the region; bricks which were designed to melt any snow or ice which falls upon them. This has vastly improved the region's infrastructure and allowed Samara to become the economic powerhouse that it is today. The road between Samara and Snegopad are most important, however, as Samara is responsible for providing all goods and commodities which the military city may require. Moreover, there are countless other roads leading from the east to both Samara and Snegopad. The latter, primarily, for the purposes of moving troops and other goods to and from the base.

Nation | Kingdom of Lunari
Major Resources | Arctic Ice, Freshwater, Seafood
Climate | Arctic Tundra
Population | 180,000
Loyalty | 100%
Cities | Samara - Snegopad
Leader(s) | Mer of Samara

Pozhar Isle

View Image:

Although otherwise a mostly desolate wasteland of ice, Pozhar Isle is home to a vast series of oddly formed stones that are filled with natural mana. This mana manifests in the form of freezing cold, blue flames erupting from the tops. There are a number of Bestial tribes throughout the area who use these natural structures as shrines to worship Umbras. There is but a single city to be found in the entire region, with extremely few settlements of any nature. That city is named Kazan and is home to a fairly low population due to its location and small size. Kazan is yet another small port city in the Lunarian Kingdom but is primarily utilized as a naval base for the nation's fleets when they're not in use. The city actually sees very little trade and mostly subsists on seafood and freshwater drawn from the abundant ice.

The region does, however, hold quite a bit of value due to its vast natural resources to be found in the far north. Both government contractors and  private parties alike commonly travel here in search of all sorts of metals, gems and crystalline materials. The most commonly found resources in the region are iron and diamonds. Most of these expeditions are launched from Everest Peaks and are spearheaded, as well as defended, by troops from Snegopad. All resources excavated are either kept by the person who unearthed it or, more likely, transported to Samara for export or to other regions to the east where they might be used by the kingdom for a variety of purposes.

Nation | Kingdom of Lunari
Major Resources | Arctic Ice, Iron, Diamond
Climate | Arctic Tundra
Population | 35,000

Maderan Regions

Rocky North

View Image:

The Rocky North is filled with nothing more than wild clans of barbarians, vast mountain ranges and solid stone for miles. Extremely few people come here aside from those who reside in Dixia. Due to the nature of the landscape, it is extremely difficult to build on or cultivate. It is for this reason that Dixia remains, and may long remain, the only city constructed in the region. It is home to only two cities, although Dixia is much more of a military stronghold than it is a city. Chaohu, on the other hand, is a vast and prosperous port city to the north that sees huge amounts of trade with the nations of Lunari and Jazira. Goods are constantly being imported and exported through this city, making it easily one of the wealthiest on the continent. Countless roads wind through the region leading to the city of Chaohu, as well as the cities of Tianjin and Dixia as well; albeit far fewer to the latter.

The region is mainly filled with a vast series of mountains, plains and even small patches of forests. However, the plains around the cities are filled with farms which grow a wide variety of crops, the primary one being rice. Tianjin, especially, farms the largest amount of rice out of any city in the world and exports the bulk of it to the outside world with the rest being transported to various regions within Madera. As far as diamonds and stone, however, export of both has been restricted by the Maderan government. All diamond and stone related goods must only be sold on the Maderan continent, so that it will be put towards the betterment of the nation.

Nation | Maderan Republic
Major Resources | Rice, Diamond, Stone
Climate | Continental (Cool Summer)
Population | ~255,000
Loyalty | 100%
Cities | Chaohu - Tianjin - Dixia
Leader(s) | Zhang of Shanghai

Mountain Lands

View Image:

The Mountain Lands are characterized by a warm warm summer continental climate and a landscape comprised almost entirely of stone and mountains. Ruled over by the Zhang of Yanshi, the largest and most influential city in the region, it is primarily used for the mining of not only stone but countless reserves of iron and gold. This has made the region extremely popular for miners and blacksmiths alike, as well as anyone else who might be interested in the resources found all throughout the mountains. The city of Yanshi is mainly the city responsible for harvesting these resources but the vast majority are usually sold to Shancheng, where it can be processed into goods and either transported to other cities or shipped out via their port. There are countless areas of scaffolding, bridges and other ways of getting along and around the mountainous area with more work always underway to make the area more easily traversable for those incapable of flight.

The region is abundant with members of the Avian race primarily for this reason. They build their homes and other structures along the sides (and sometimes on top) of the mountains. It is for this reason that laying siege to Yanshi, and other settlements along the mountainsides, would prove extremely difficult for those without the ability to fly. The vast majority of the nation's stone and iron supply comes from this region, with it also being the second largest producer of gold. The iron is generally used in the process of making steel whereas the gold is mostly used to mint Sosars or craft fine jewelry. One must be weary when traveling in this region, however, as the mountains are not the only danger. The area is filled with all manner of beasts and monsters, most of which either fly or are capable of navigating the region by nature.

Nation | Maderan Republic
Major Resources | Stone, Iron, Gold
Climate | Semiarid
Population | ~180,000
Loyalty | 100%
