YEAR 1-102
Era of Warring Tribes

The Tribal Era for the Maderan continent was an existence of chaos and violence. Countless different groups fought hard and long to protect or gain territory. All of the beings were divided and held nothing but animosity for anyone different from themselves. It wasn't until they began to find themselves colonized by colonies of Serenum and Lunari. They now started to understand that they would need to work together to repel these invaders. Both imperial powers had established countless colonies far more thriving than any of the tribes but also engaged heavily in the buying and selling of slaves. Some, in fact, would simply steal women from tribes and force them to return to them to a colony. By the year 43, a vast group of tribes and even some colonies gathered together to sign the constitution of a new government, a new nation. The Madera Republic was officially born. Now that everyone could be united and organized, expelling any and all invaders would be the next step. This was profound as such a diverse group of races had so easily come together for their best interest.

YEAR 102-150
Ai Jing Dynasty

Despite passing comprehensive and common sense regulatory measures, primarily aimed at benefiting the collective over the elite few, Ai Jing was universally despised by the many regional leaders. The moment she ascended the throne, they attempted to cede. They were met with fierce punishments and returned to nation as war criminals. Those at the top were incarcerated for life whereas the others received lesser sentences, namely helping to rebuild what was destroyed during the civil war. Once all of the internal affairs were settled, the new leader began massive funding of magic and magical technologies. At the same time, she built numerous ports and a sizable navy capable of protecting their people at sea. This turned out to be of use for other matters, however, as Empress Jing was made aware of the dwarves in Lunari were being severely mistreated. Being unable to accept it, she mobilized her fleet alongside those of the Serenian Kingom to launch an offensive, liberatory effort. They succeeded. Not long after returning home, Empress Jing coughed up blood and began to feel dizzy. Although no one knew what could have caused it, she soon went limp entirely. The Ai Jing Dynasty was over.

YEAR 150-206
Age of Civil War

Although the republic's constitution required a vote in order to elect the new leader, many of the faction leaders felt they should become the new ruler. This resulted in an all-out series of civil wars which resulted in the deaths of millions. War raged on for roughly 50 years with nothing but destruction wrought all across the continent, largely perpetrated by proxy forces sponsored by other nations. In the end, the Democratic Order in Madera managed to survive and maintain control over the capital. With losses so devastating and trouble brewing across Sosaria, the remaining rebels finally forfeited to the new king, Liu Zhang. He brought about revolutionary and progressive changes which enriched the lives of all who lived on the continent. He found a way to live in perfect harmony with the nature and magical forces found across the continent. Emperor Liu assured the regions of their sovereignty, wishing for them to rule over their own people as they see fit. He proclaimed then and there that his only acts as king would be to protect the people of the nation from threats both domestic and abroad.

YEAR 226-288
Maderan Golden Age

Former Emperor Liu had stepped down in year 226, leaving her daughter to be elected the new ruler by an overwhelming margin. Emperor Yang would revolutionize the country. He took everything a step further, establishing a central republic through which to pass and enforce the laws of the law. He brought together the countless tribes on land and water. He surrounded himself with the most brilliant of minds he could get his hands on, regardless of their origin or trustworthiness. It was thanks to this, however, that the nation of Madera learned knowledge and secrets which allowed them to remain a major empire in the world. Things were peaceful throughout the Golden Age though, with the Maderan exporting far more than they were importing. Their primary trade partner remained Serenum with Anemos as a close second. Emperor Yang wished to maintain good relations with all foreign nations, so that they might not get dragged into any undue wars. These were truly the best of time.

YEAR 288-302
War of Beasts and Monsters

The War of Beasts and Monsters was a conflict which arose between Madera and Shimaguni over the issues of immigrants forming settlements on one another's territory, as well as the navies of both nations targeting fishing boats and the such found in their shared water. Negotiations had broken down and all out war began. In the beginning, it was mostly naval battles among the surrounding sea. However, Emperor Yang soon led her armies into Shimaguni from several ships which had managed to make it to shore. Her troops fought valiantly, slaughtering countless monsters and suffering minimal casualties. They made their way slowly, but successfully, toward the capital city. It took many years due to the fierce resistance, poor supply chain and the Scorched Earth policy employed by the enemy. This did not deter Emperor Yang, however, as he eventually led his army on their capital and laid siege for one straight week. At the end of the week, white flags had been hoisted and negotiations would soon begin.

YEAR 302-386
The Economic Miracle

The negotiations were simple. Their shared waters would become, strictly, Maderan waters. Shimaguni would secure their northern border and allow Madera to chase off or execute any who settled within their lands. Shimaguni also agreed to pay a large sum of gold in reparations for the lives and supplies lost in defeating them. Although the leader, and people, of Shimaguni were furious with these terms, there was little they could do. The diplomatic team returned to Madera victorious. Exclusive fishing rights to the formerly shared waters, along with the reparations, left the central government of Madera with ample funds to finance a larger and more robust military, badly needed infrastructure and social programs to uplift those who were poorest. These social programs were not simply to keep them alive, however, but to teach them valuable skills and provide the needed resources for them to become productive and self-sufficient members of society. Madera became a booming economic and military superpower in a matter of decades.

Era of Warring Tribes
